How To Belong
.
Welcome!
We would like to do anything we can to help you become a part of this community - both of St Francis Church, and of the Episcopal Church. If there is anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to let us know. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Church Office, 696-0834. We'll be happy to set aside time to spend with you.

How Do I Become a Member of St. Francis Episcopal Church?
All individuals desiring to affiliate with the congregation of St. Francis Church are asked to do the following three things:

1. Complete a "Household Information Questionnaire" and return it to the Church Office. Once we receive the questionnaire, we can determine your current status and initiate the appropriate next steps.

Click on Download pdf to download a copy of the questionnaire form in Adobe Acrobat format (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed on your computer). The form will open in a new browser window. To return to the St. Francis web site, simply close the new window.

If you do not currently have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, please click on the button below to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

2. Attend "I Will With God's Help". This is a class designed specifically to introduce new people to the mission and vision of this parish and the responsibilities of membership at St. Francis. The class will also provide you with the opportunity to ask questions about St. Francis and the Episcopal Church to ensure that your expectations for membership will be fulfilled.

Click on Date and Time for the next scheduled "I Will With God's Help" class.

3. Participate in the "Covenant of Membership". This is normally done through the use of a special liturgy on a New Member Sunday.

Click on New Member Sunday for the next scheduled New Member Sunday date.

Depending on your current status that you provide in the "Household Information Questionnaire", the following are the next steps toward membership:

If you are currently a member of another Episcopal church our church secretary, will initiate the paper work with your former parish, asking for a letter of transfer. Please plan to attend the next "I Will With God's Help" and New Member Sunday.

If you are not an Episcopalian, and have been baptized in another Christian church, our church secretary will record you in our membership registry by record of baptism. Please plan to attend the next "I Will With God's Help" and New Member Sunday.

If you have never been given a Christian baptism, please contact the church office (696-0834) to make the necessary arrangements and preparation for baptism.

Concerning Confirmation
It is anticipated that all adult members of St. Francis Episcopal Church will have either been confirmed by a bishop of the Episcopal Church or will have their confirmation acknowledged by being received by the Bishop of West Texas. The Bishop normally visits St. Francis twice a year. All individuals wishing to appear before the Bishop will go through one of two Inquirer's Classes during the year. When the Bishop comes:

Persons who have never been confirmed, may be confirmed if they so choose.

Individuals who have been confirmed by a bishop of the historic Church (Roman Catholic, Easter Orthodox, Lutheran, and a few others) will not be confirmed again, but may be received if they so choose.

Episcopalians who have been inactive in their faith and are desirous of making a new commitment, may come before the Bishop to affirm their faith if they so choose.

Please contact the Church Office at 210-696-0834 for the next scheduled Inquirer's Classes.
