Stewardship Opportunities

Our Vision: Believing we are a missionary people, we feel called to bring into existence a community of faith that is so alive in Christ that our sense of stewardship underlies the generosity we express with all that we are and have.

We are stewards of all that God has given us: our lives, our faith, our talents and our possessions. We strive to respond to God out of thanksgiving in all areas of our stewardship.

Financial stewardship has three main aspects:

Routine Giving - the regular, ongoing practice of giving, supporting the work of the Church and nurturing our own expression of God's generosity. Examples of this are weekly or monthly contributions to the Church or other organizations doing God's work in the world.

Special Giving - the unusual need or opportunity that calls us to take risks and make additional gifts. Examples of this form of financial stewardship are contributions to building funds or other capital needs (such as Phase I of the parish strategic plan.

Legacy Stewardship - the disposition of the accumulations of a lifetime. Have you remembered God in your will? This is often known as planned giving.

St. Francis has developed programs and processes to provide for all three types of financial stewardship. The following information is intended to assist you in the implementation of your giving decisions.

Annual Giving (Pledging)

Sharing of our treasure means making a conscious decision to make a financial commitment to placing God's work before our worldly obligations. When we give to God first, we are making a gift of faith, trusting that God will take care of us. At St. Francis, we encourage proportionate giving, which simiply means giving a percentage of our income, the standard being the Biblical tithe (10%).

Annual Giving through the pledge process is essential for St. Francis. Through this process we provide for the many programs for our parishioners, outreach to our community, support of the church staff and the diocese, and we pay our recurring and one-time expenses to operate the church. (St. Francis commits a minimum of 10% of all contributions received to outreach efforts).

Endowment Fund

The St. Francis Endowment Fund is designed to provide meaningful, long-term financial support for the church. Gifts to the Fund can be designated for specific purposes according wishes of the donor. Otherwise, the trustees of the Endowment Fund will disperse earnings from the fund for the long-term needs of the church. Examples of such disbursements are: significant repairs and/or improvements to the physical plant or special programs to further the mission of the church.

In addition to providing the church with long-term income, such a gift can result in significant tax benefits to the donor.

Have you remembered the St. Francis Endowment Fund in your will or giving? Remember, principal is never touched—investment returns are used to support the long-term mission of the parish. Please consider such a perpetual gift.

Special Gifts

St. Francis accepts gifts for specified short-term special purposes. Requests for funds for these special purposes and the means through which the funds will be collected will be announced from time-to-time throughout the year.
