Compassion and Service

Some ministries are not funded by money but by mercy and hearts full of love for Christ.  At St. Francis, these ministries include:

Community of Hope

Community of Hope, a 14-week program of spiritual development and practical training to improve pastoral and leadership skills.  Members meet regularly and assist the rector with visitation, prayer, and regular communication with those who are in need of pastoral care.

Super Seniors

Super Seniors meets quarterly to make sure all our seniors are doing well and to see how we can be of service to them.  Contact LyLith Schneider at (210) 696-0834.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Neighbors Helping Neighbors partners with Family Service Association to assist families in our neighborhood.  This group is looking for participants who want to evolve and become a better working partner.  We coordinate with other social service groups in the area.  Contact LyLith Schneider at (210) 696-0834.

Parish Nurse

The Parish Nurse provides medical information and education concerning medical and life issues to parishioners. This may include one-on-one time with individual parishioners, workshops for groups of parishioners or the general public, visiting parishioners. The parish nurse does not provide direct medical care but consults with and educates the parish. Contact LyLith Schneider at (210) 696-0834.

Ministry of Correspondence

The Ministry of Correspondence write notes in times of celebration and need.  This art form is much appreciated by the recipients.  Contact Constance Luckhurst at (210) 288-5418.

Mental Health Ministry

Mental Health Ministry is available to parishioners in need of help themselves or who have loved ones they would like help with.  Completely confidential.  Contact Dorothy Parma at (210) 340-3567.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity partners with churches to build affordable housing for those in need.  St. Francis is a participant for the local area and can always use an extra pair of hands.  Contact Ralph Schleicher at (210) 673-5842.

Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King are women who regularly pray as a “rule of life” and take on the responsibility of praying in confidence for the needs of others.  Contact Beth Spencer at (210) 697-8244.

Eucharistic Visitors

The Eucharistic Visitors take the consecrated elements to those unable to join the church community in the celebration of Eucharist.  Contact Pam Lovall at (210) 699-8581.

Outreach Committee

Outreach Committee helps refugees in our community as well as parishioners with things such as transportation to church.  Contact Scott Huddleston at (210) 520-1951 or Oksana Snow at (210) 492-2278.

Food Gathering Ministry

The Food Gathering Ministry’s mission is to provide food and toiletries to those needing basic items, within our parish and in our surrounding community.  Contact Bill Luckhurst at (210) 281-5195.

Kitchen Pantry Ministry

The Kitchen Pantry Ministry restocks and organizes  the pantry.  Contact Bob and Brenda Jacobs at (210) 545-6089.
