St. Francis reaches out to our local community in many meaningful ways. We feed the hungry though our monthly food pantry and periodic Food Bank Truck distributions. The Refugee Medical and Dental clinic serves every Wednesday evening. Food Pantry
​
The Food Pantry’s mission is to provide food to those who are hungry, both within our parish and in our surrounding community. Our Food Pantry is open every third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Contact the church office via email at sfc@sfcsa.org if you are interested in volunteering or have any questions.

San Antonio Refugee Health Clinic
​
University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio (UTHSCSA) dental, medical and nursing students currently serve the refugee population at the San Antonio Refugee Health Clinic (SARHC), in an interprofessional collaborative setting. As an interprofessional educational collaborative, students from all professions have the opportunity to observe and facilitate the delivery of oral/healthcare needs for the refugee patients.
According to the Refugee Processing Center, the number of refugees arriving yearly to San Antonio has been averaging 750 every year for the past 5 years. Refugees experience limited access to healthcare resources due to language, financial, and transportation barriers, which further complicates their well-being due to socioeconomic instability and their displaced status.
The clinic meets weekly on Wednesdays, starting at 5p.m. on the St. Francis campus.
The St. Francis community supports the clinic staff by providing healthy food during their shift. There are usually 20-25 students. You are asked to bring a meal. Such as sandwiches, soup, lasagna, a side, and perhaps some bread. Please be aware you are feeding about 25 students. Click the button below to sign up!
International Community Garden

The International Community Garden is located at the south edge of our campus, adjacent to the youth building. We have 58 plots of land, which are leased to refugee families who live in nearby apartment complexes. These plots allow them a place to grow food and give them the opportunity for meaningful labor and fellowship.
If you are interested in helping out, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. The garden also welcomes individuals or groups seeking to perform service projects.
